JOANNE OOSTERHOFF

Joanne has loved music all her life. Although a Computer Scientist by profession, over the last 30 years she has been heavily involved in singing with and teaching barbershop (and other a cappella ensembles) in Australia, the UK and the USA/Canada. Joanne is highly sought after as an individual vocal teacher and ensemble coach.

She has served on the Sweet Adelines Australia (Region 34) Education Faculty since 1999 and been involved in youth development since 2004. She co-authored and now administers the online Music Leaders’ Program for assistant directors and developing music leaders in Australia and is currently also serving on the Sweet Adelines International committee which reviews and writes material for the Director Certification Program, as well as serving as a member of SA International Faculty.

She has also sung with several Australian champion quartets (Hi-Jinx Quartet, Enchant! and Twice On Sunday mixed quartet) and is currently the tenor of Skylark Quartet, who in 2024 set a new Australian record, placing 14th in the world!

Joanne came to "help" at the first rehearsal of ACW in 2008 and found she couldn't stay away! Her co-directorship with Lindsey Dyer (also the bass in 2 of her quartets) was a life changing experience. Now, after 16 years, she is excited to continue the journey into our exciting future, learning and growing each day.
